Vempati Manikanta Rama Krishna Gowtham, a dynamic individual from the city of Rajahmundry, India, served as the President of the Indian Student Association at A&M-Commerce. What do you like most about working as a graduate assistant?
Working as a Graduate Assistant with the Office of International Programs at A&M-Commerce was a dream fulfilled. Being part of such a prestigious institution and contributing to uniting students worldwide was immensely fulfilling. It not only exposed me to various cultures but also honed my career aspirations while keeping me abreast of technological advancements. The hands-on experience gained was invaluable, distinguishing me in the job market. Overall, it was a rare opportunity to grow academically, contribute to the community, and leave a positive impact on others’ lives.
How do you help students at A&M-Commerce?
As a Graduate Assistant with the Office of International Programs at A&M-Commerce, I was at the forefront of connecting students from various backgrounds to the institution’s world-class education and opportunities. Each day, I served as the initial point of contact for prospective and current students globally. Engaging with them went beyond simply addressing their inquiries about programs and facilities; it provided a platform for mutual learning and cultural exchange. These interactions enriched my experience, broadened my perspective, and enhanced my communication skills. I took pride in contributing to an organization that positively impacted students’ lives and promoted global connectivity.
What are your professional and personal goals? What is your passion or motivation?
My ultimate professional goal was to succeed in the corporate world and make a positive impact in my community by providing employment opportunities. In a world where employment was increasingly scarce, I aimed to be the solution and bring hope to those needing job security.
My goals were equally ambitious, driven by a desire to give back to my nation. I believed education was the key to unlocking one’s potential, passionate about providing value-based education to rural areas. My focus was on bridging the knowledge gap and empowering individuals regardless of background. Relentless curiosity and determination ensured I never settled for mediocrity, always striving for greatness and aiming to make a lasting impact on the world.
How is it being President of the Indian Student Association at A&M-Commerce?
Being the President of the Indian Student Association at A&M-Commerce was both challenging and rewarding. Leading a dynamic group of students from India allowed me to unite our community and promote cultural exchange on campus. Providing support to students far from home was particularly fulfilling. Collaborating with association members, we organized events that celebrated Indian culture and fostered unity within the university. This role honed my leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Overall, serving and representing our community was a deeply meaningful experience, and I eagerly anticipated continuing to make a positive impact in the future.
