Texas A&M University-Commerce alum Amanda Gish was recently featured in a profile published by the Herald Banner to share about her successful voice acting career in anime.
Gish graduated from A&M-Commerce in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Speech Communication. She was also involved in the theater department during her time at the university. During that time, she was watching an anime series in her dorm room when she realized “just how good the voice acting was,” and felt inspired to send an audition tape to a nearby studio.
Although it took time, Gish eventually received a call back and has managed to make a very successful name for herself in anime, racking up 180 anime voice acting credits in numerous anime series.
“One thing I love about voice acting is that I literally get to be whatever I want for the role,” Gish said in the article. “I get to basically breathe life into each character with my voice, whether they're an adult, a little boy, a little girl, a young adult, and older woman. I can truly transform into what I want to be for the part.”
