ETAMU Operations Update for January 10, 2025
Lion Family,
Due to continued hazardous road conditions, the East Texas A&M University main campus and the Dallas site will remain on the modified operational status on Friday, January 10, 2025, as indicated below.
Academic Expectations
To minimize disruption of academic activities, all instruction will transition to online for the duration of the adverse weather period. All students are expected to check their email for communication from their professors. All faculty are expected to communicate directly with their students to share information about specific plans for each course and address deadlines for coursework.
Essential Personnel and Departments
Essential Personnel: Despite the modified operational status, specific employees are deemed essential. Essential personnel will be identified as such by their supervisors and are expected to be on campus if possible. Essential employees who cannot travel to campus should contact their supervisors immediately to determine the best course of action.
Note: At the discretion and written approval of the supervisor, an employee may be designated as essential personnel on an ad hoc basis. Ad hoc essential employees may be asked to work remotely.
Essential Departments: Essential departments include the University Police Department, Food Services, Facilities, IT, Residence Halls, Animal Care, KETR, and the Emergency Operations Center. Waters Library, Morris Recreation Center and Rayburn Student Center will remain open with limited operations.
Non-Essential Personnel
All staff designated as non-essential will not report to campus and will be granted emergency leave. Non-essential personnel are not expected to work remotely unless they are deemed “essential personnel” on an ad hoc basis, as described in the section above.
Off-Site Locations
Off-site locations (RELLIS, CHEC, Mesquite, and Navarro) will align with decisions made by their host institutions or local school districts regarding early release, cancellations, and closures. East Texas A&M–Dallas will follow the main campus's directives unless advised differently by the Office of the President.
