The College of Humanities, Social Sciences and Arts currently offers students the opportunity to earn an undergraduate minor or graduate certificate in gender studies. You will gain the vocabulary to discuss a variety of topics related to gender, women’s history and sexuality taught by faculty from various disciplines across campus.

Welcome from the Program Coordinator

Welcome to the East Texas A&M gender studies program. Gender studies allows students to explore the issues that shape and define social understandings of masculinity, femininity and sexuality in their contemporary, historical and global contexts.

Gender studies students learn to think critically about the world around them, understand their personal experiences within larger social structures, expand their perspectives, and gain the tools to help build a better world. Through this process, students gain the self-awareness, confidence and compassion that are essential for success in the workplace and in all social interactions.

The gender studies program is an interdisciplinary program that draws courses from across the university and complements any major or field of study.  Undergraduates can earn a Minor in Gender Studies while graduate students can pursue a Minor in Gender Studies and/or a Certificate in Women's and Gender Studies
