2. Honors College: Admitted Student Checklist

Once you've received admission to the Honors College, here are next steps to take care of in the coming months.

  • Check your ETAMU LeoMail regularly
    • In myLeo you can set this account up to your phone or other Google platforms. We will send updates regarding Spring, Summer, and Fall actions and activities- don't miss out!
  • Complete and submit your Housing application if you're planning to live on campus.
    • Sign into myLeo, select the “Apps” tab, select “Residential Living & Learning”, select “APPLY FOR FALL 2025/SPRING 2026” (blue and gold button)
    • The application fee and general info portion of the application is currently open, but Housing and Meal Plan Contracts will be available starting April 1st. The contracts must be completed before students can be assigned to a room.
    • For students experiencing financial hardship and unable to pay the $125 fee, the student may email [email protected] from their myLeo email account if they would like the $125 fee applied directly to the Fall 2025 balance. Include first name, last name, and CWID.
    • First year Honors College students will choose one of the required meal plan options as they go through the application.
    • Honors College students should NOT select a room in the housing portal. Once a student gets to the room selection process, they should exit the application immediately. Honors College students may ignore all emails with the subject “Room Selection” and “Room Selection Timeslot”.
    • Honors College students should not apply for the first year Living & Learning Communities (LLCs) because they are not able to fulfill the requirement of living on the LLC floor.
  • Submit Meningitis Vaccination
    • It is a state requirement for all students under the age of 22 to have a current meningitis vaccination on file with the university in order to move on campus. Visit our website if you have questions about how to submit your records.
  • Mark your calendars for Admitted Students Day on Saturday, April 5th. The university will have programming to get you acquainted to the college and we have a student social from 2:30-4:00pm immediately following Admitted Student Day at Mugs on the Square in downtown Commerce. This is a great time to start meeting roommates and others in the HC community!
  • Mark your calendars for the Honors College Orientation.
    • All Honors College students must attend the Honors College Orientation session to receive the Honors College scholarship. Honors Orientation will be held on July 18, 2025. Students who sign up for and attend the July 18 session will complete both their Honors and university orientation requirements. Visit your Student Application Portal to sign up for your 7/18 ROAR session.
  • Some of you will receive internal scholarships from the University—Blue and Gold, Presidential, etc. —and you can accept them all. You should also look into applying for scholarships via your high schools; monies awarded from entities outside the University may end up back in your pocket.
  • Go to the university's scholarship portal (accessed through myLeo) and apply for scholarships through June 1, 2025.
  • For students with dual credit, AP or IB exam credit (or will take AP/IB exams this spring):
    • Submit your official dual credit transcript (directly from the community college or university) to the Admissions Office at East Texas A&M as soon as the Spring 2025 semester ends.
    • Request an AP score report be sent to East Texas A&M University. AP tests completed in spring are sent to ETAMU in July.
    • Request your IB test scores be sent to East Texas A&M. IB test scores completed in spring are released to ETAMU in July.
    • These items are imperative to ensure a student does not enroll in a course for which they have already received credit.
  • Registration will begin in the coming months to help you enroll in Fall 2025 classes. Lookout for an email with details for these registration appointments with your Honors advisor, Miranda Phillips. Due to FERPA laws, advising sessions will be reserved for students & advisors only.
