The Summer II term for East Texas A&M begins on July 10, 2024. Why wait until Fall to begin one of the most important journeys you’ll take in life? There are benefits available to starting your college experience early. Here are a few:

How Do You Earn Your Degree Tuition-Free?

  1. Apply for admission to East Texas A&M. Already admitted? You may move your Fall 2024 application to Summer II 2024 (Summer II term begins on July 10, 2024).
  2. Review eligibility criteria for scholarships available to new incoming Jump Start College students (below).
  3. Complete the 24-25 FAFSA or TASFA form by the June 30, 2024 deadline.
  4. Consider attending an upcoming Registration Rally for full onsite enrollment support services to complete any remaining enrollment checklist items.

THE PRESIDENT'S PROMISE & REGENT’S ACCESS SCHOLARSHIPS

All “Jump Start” students will be considered for a President's Promise Scholarship that covers all tuition not covered by other grants and scholarships and will meet 100% of tuition costs for Summer II 2023 (July 10, 2024) and the remaining four years of undergraduate study. You may also receive the Regents' Access Scholarship for Summer II 2024 campus housing and meals, followed by one full academic year of free housing and meals for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.

Recipients of the Summer President's Promise and Regents' Access Scholarship must meet all the following criteria, without exception:

  • Be admitted to the University as a freshman and enter East Texas A&M in the calendar year of graduation from high school, or
  • Be admitted from a two-year school as a transfer student with an earned Associate's Degree or 45 credit hours without gaps in enrollment, and
  • Be enrolled full-time beginning in Summer II 2024 and remain enrolled full-time for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 long semesters as a first-time new undergraduate student working towards their first degree at East Texas A&M, and
  • Qualify for a federal pell-grant or the equivalent demonstrated need, as defined by TAFSA, with a family, Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $85,000 or less, and
  • Be a Texas resident for tuition purposes.

*Fees are not covered by any Promise Scholarship and will be billed to the student's account.

The Regents' Access Scholarship awards recipients of the Summer President's Promise Scholarship one year of on-campus room and board not covered by other grants and scholarships for students who will live on campus beginning Summer II 2024, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025. (The maximum amount awarded may not exceed published combined estimate costs for Summer housing in the amount of $11,294 for room and board for the Summer II 2024, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025, which includes the summer meal and 19 exchange meal plans during Fall and Spring).

*Students who receive a waiver to live at home, enroll and plan to attend East Texas A&M at Dallas, or are not required to live on campus at the point of admission are not eligible for the Regents' Access Scholarship.

Are “Jump Start” College students required to live in on-campus housing at the East Texas A&M Main Campus?

A “Jump Start” College student may be eligible for a waiver from the on-campus live-on requirement. However, if a “Jump Start” College student is required to live in on-campus housing, attends the East Texas A&M Main Campus, and is a President’s Promise awardee, they will also receive the Regents’ Access Scholarship, which pays for on-campus Summer II 2024 housing and meals plus an additional year of on-campus housing and meals not covered by other grants and scholarship. (Summer II 2024, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025 only. Terms and conditions apply).  The Regents’ Access Scholarship is not available to students who are not required to live in on-campus housing, such as those who live at home or attend the East Texas A&M at Dallas location.

If a student is already admitted for the Fall 2024 term, can they decide to “Jump Start” College and change their intended first term of study from Fall 2024 to Summer II 2024?

Yes, if new incoming first-year freshmen or transfer students have already been admitted for the Fall 2024 and now would like to “Jump Start” College, they should move their application from Fall 2024 to Summer II 2024 by completing the Move my application form.

Students who decide to “Jump Start” College must also file a 24-25 FAFSA or TASFA by June 30, 2024, to be considered for scholarships.
