Honoring Dr. David Arlington Talbot
Celebrating an Extraordinary Life
Dr. David Arlington Talbot, better known to his students as Dr. T, was the first African American male professor and first Black professor emeritus at East Texas State University (ETSU).
Accepting the ETSU faculty position in 1968, he would become special assistant to the president for affirmative action, a professor of counseling and guidance, and finally the director of the university’s counseling center. Dr. Talbot was a trailblazer and an exceptional mentor and teacher to his students. He truly had a heart for those he taught and counseled.
