Applied Linguistics (MA/MS) TESOL Emphasis

As a student in the Applied Linguistics program, you will engage in cutting-edge pedagogical and research strategies with others who are pursuing careers in teaching English to speakers of other languages. Whether you choose this field as a primary or complementary discipline, this program will prepare you for a variety of careers including teaching at the university level or teaching English as a second language abroad.

Higher Education (MS)

At A&M-Commerce, we offer one of the nation's largest Higher Education programs, giving you excellence in education and endless opportunities. Our flexible degree prepares you for a wide-range of careers in academic counseling, college teaching, educational policymaking, or nonprofit organizations.

Hispanic Studies (BA)

The undergraduate Spanish program is dedicated to the study of languages and literatures of Latin America, Spain and the United States. The department offers a wide range and variety of courses, including beginners, intermediate and advanced courses in Spanish language and culture as well as courses designed for heritage speakers and native speakers.

Mathematics (MS)

The graduate program in mathematics prepares you for employment as an educator on various levels, additional study at the doctoral level or one of the many non-academic areas in which mathematicians work. Graduate work in mathematics leading to the master’s degree is offered with an emphasis in actuarial science, algebra, analysis, biological mathematics, combinatorics, coding theory, differential equations, differential geometry, image analysis and processing, or probability-statistics.

The graduate program in mathematics prepares you for employment as an educator on various levels, additional study at the doctoral level or one of the many non-academic areas in which mathematicians work. Music (MM)

Students in the Master of Music program choose either an emphasis in performance (applied music or conducting) or music education. The M.M. with an emphasis in performance develops specific music skills and abilities to a high degree in the fields of instrumental and vocal performance and conducting. The M.M. with an emphasis in music education focuses on teacher training at the elementary and secondary levels.

Supervision, Curriculum and Instruction (Ed.D.)

This degree prepares graduate students for careers in K-12 public and private schools, regional educational training facilities, college and university settings, and research and development centers.  A graduate with the Doctor of Education degree should possess competencies in research methods, statistics, curriculum, instructional design, learning, instructional strategies and effective teaching.

Our facility

Enhance your education at our new campus in Mesquite. Our facility offers a library, computer lab, student lounge areas, study spaces and nine classrooms. You’ll also have access to our online library database which stores thousands of journals, books and articles.

Does the Mesquite Metroplex Center have free wifi?

A&M-Commerce provides free wireless internet access to all students and faculty. When you power on your laptop, smartphone or tablet, select TAMUC from your list of available networks. You will enter your CWID and password when you open your browser (Example CWID: student/12345678, Password:123abc. If you have trouble logging in, contact the IT Helpdesk at 903-468-6000.

How do I get a Lion Card at the Mesquite Metroplex Center?

You can get a Lion Card at the Mesquite Metroplex office or at the Lion Card Office at the Commerce campus. You may add cash to your account in Mesquite at any time the site is open.
