Stahl's $50,000 match campaign

In 2024, devoted Lion donors Scott (‘84) and Margaret Stahl committed $50,000 to match membership dues for graduates and friends who joined the Alumni Association. New members could direct the matching funds to any A&M-Commerce college, the Alumni Legacy Scholarship or the Lion Athletics Scholarship Fund.

The match was met ahead of schedule and effectively incentivized alumni participation. As a result of this campaign and other alumni engagement efforts, Alumni Association memberships increased by 29%. The campaign also had positive impacts on the university's six colleges, the Alumni Legacy Scholarship and the Lion Athletics Scholarship Fund.

“This milestone reflects the incredible commitment of our alumni and donors,” said University President Mark Rudin. “Their engagement strengthens our mission to transform lives through scholarships, programs, applied research and campus enhancements.”

Lion Athletics' record-setting year

Lion Athletics also experienced a record-setting year, launching new philanthropic initiatives and breaking records in participation and giving.

“Thanks to the unwavering support of the Lion family, we had a record-breaking year in terms of the number of donors and total giving to Athletics,” said Athletics Director Jim Curry. “This support will elevate our athletics programs and empower our student-athletes to excel in the classroom and on the playing surface.”

With a surge in all areas of alumni giving, the dollar amount awarded for donor-funded scholarships increased by 21%.

“Alumni engagement and philanthropic participation have led to extraordinary achievements,” said Devin Girod, vice president of Philanthropy and Engagement. “The generosity of our Lion community demonstrates their deep passion for supporting our students, faculty, and the university. We are excited to build on these successes and continue strengthening our engagement to ensure an even brighter future for A&M-Commerce.”
