Actress Alumna’s Podcast Nominated for Webby Award

A Lion alumna’s podcast was recently nominated for a Webby Award by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. The Webbys is an annual award show recognizing excellence on the internet across a variety of categories. Two winners are chosen in each category: One by a judging panel and one by popular vote.

Julie Dove, neé Carr, is an actress and host of “True Texas Crime: The Significant Life of Angela Stevens,” a true-crime podcast about a 1988 murder that occurred in Princeton, Texas, Dove’s hometown. The podcast received a Webby nomination in the Best Indie Podcast—Limited Run category.

Dove is a two-time graduate of East Texas State University (now East Texas A&M University), earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in theatre in 1991 and 1993, respectively. Dove’s recent acting credits include the recurring character Connie Viniski on the long-running soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” as well as appearances on “The Office,” “Criminal Minds” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

She was recently interviewed by 88.9 KETR’s Jerrod Knight and spoke on her life, career and true crime. Listen to the interview here.

People can vote in the Webbys People’s Voice competition by April 17. Vote for Dove’s podcast here.
