A&M-Commerce Alum Receives Lifetime Achievement Award from PAS
Texas A&M University-Commerce alum Anthony Robinson was recently honored with the “Lifetime Achievement in Education” award by the Percussive Arts Society (PAS). Robinson received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Northwestern State University in 1975, and then earned his Master of Education degree with an emphasis in secondary education from East Texas State University (now A&M-Commerce) in 1987. He was an assistant director and later director of bands in the Marshall Independent School District from 1978 to 2007, and has served in several roles as a percussion specialist for multiple other East Texas School districts. He is currently in his 28th year as a percussion instructor for East Texas Baptist University, and has performed professionally as a member of the Shreveport Symphony since 1978. In addition, Robinson is also a veteran, having reached the rank of First Sergeant and performing as a member of the United States Air Force Band of the Gulf Coast.
