A&M-Commerce Alumnus Receives Recognition as Texas Boot Maker
Jarrett Van Curen is a Texas boot maker, one of just a few young craftsmen in the state. At 29, Van Curen is fully committed to the fine art of boot making. With intricate inlays, signature stitching and clean-lined aesthetics, his boots attract customers from California to New York. He typically begins work in his boot shop at 3 a.m. before he begins his day job as an ag mechanics teacher at Big Sandy High School. Van Curen's boots have been featured in Texas Monthly and other publications. He graduated from A&M-Commerce in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in agricultural science and technology.
