COMMERCE – Texas A&M University-Commerce athletics continues to realize historic growth as the department generated an all-time high of more than $1.3 million in total support from philanthropy, corporate partnerships, and ticket sales during fiscal year 2024, which ran from September 1, 2023, to August 31, 2024. Total cash receipts from all self-generated sources surpassed the $2 million threshold for the first time in school history, and does not include an additional $1.8 million in new pledges and commitments received during fiscal year 2024.

Philanthropic giving achieved all-time highs in total dollars raised, total number of donors, and total number of new donors. Supported by a record 520 donors, including 244 new contributors, fundraising for the year totaled more than $680,000, eclipsing the prior year’s total by 148%.

“This record-breaking support from our loyal fans and partners continues to demonstrate the power and potential of the A&M-Commerce brand,” said Director of Athletics Jim Curry. “We are grateful for the commitment and confidence from so many within the Lion Family, which enables us to support the university’s mission to transform lives. The energy and momentum throughout the university and Lion Athletics is undeniable, and we’re excited to see the enduring impact of this support while continuing to raise the bar in pursuit of comprehensive excellence.”

Corporate sponsorships also set a new record bringing in over $307,000 in total support, highlighted by the largest corporate partnership in athletics history with Hunt Regional Healthcare’s five-year, $1.6 million commitment. Lion Athletics also grew the total number of corporate sponsors from the previous year during fiscal year 2024.

Ticket sales saw an increase as well from the previous year, with over 46,000 fans attending Lion Athletics home events in 2023-24. Overall ticket revenue across all sports saw a 36% increase from the previous year. Despite two less home games from the previous year, football saw an 18% overall increase in ticket revenue. Men’s and women’s basketball saw an 80% increase in ticket revenue compared to last year, while softball tripled its ticket revenue compared to the previous year, having hosted the highest number of regular season home games across all of Division I.

Several new initiatives helped support this record-breaking achievement during the fiscal year 2024. Lion Athletics revamped its annual fund to provide better focus, impact, and transparency for annual gifts to the scholarship fund. A&M-Commerce Athletics also hosted a giving day that raised over $102,000. The reimagined Night of Champions raised over $71,000 in total scholarship support, which included over 200 donated items for live and silent auctions.
