A&M-Commerce College of Business Receives Extension of Accreditation from AACSB
The Texas A&M University-Commerce College of Business is pleased to announce that the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) has extended the college's accreditation. This decision was finalized at the AACSB Board of Directors meeting on December 22.
“The reaffirmation of AACSB accreditation of the A&M-Commerce College of Business is a tribute to the high quality programs offered as well as the excellence and dedication by the faculty and staff in the College,” said President Dan Jones. “I thank everyone involved in the efforts that got us to this point and look forward to helping the College realize the promise of its future.”
AACSB is an international professional organization for educational institutions, businesses and other entities that are dedicated to the advancement of management education. They provide educational institutions with accreditation based on a rigorous self-evaluation and peer-review process. After receiving AACSB accreditation, institutions must enter the Continuous Improvement Review process every five years.
There are currently 716 business schools in 48 countries and territories that have earned an AACSB accreditation, which means that only 5% of the world's business schools have achieved the honor. According to the AACSB website, schools with this accreditation are recognized worldwide by the top employers, produce graduates with higher GPAs and more competitive salaries and their students are more likely to earn higher levels of education.
“The extension of AACSB business accreditation is a tribute to our hard-working faculty and staff and an ongoing demonstration of our ability to innovate and engage with our students and community,” said College of Business Dean Steve Williams. “To maintain AACSB accreditation requires that the business school not only meet specific high standards of excellence, but also that we make a commitment to continuously improve the way we deliver high quality education to our students. The College of Business at Texas A&M University – Commerce first received accreditation in 1975 and has continued to meet these high standards for performance and accountability ever since. We are pleased to continue to be among the five percent of business schools worldwide that have achieved AACSB accreditation.”
