A&M-Commerce Criminal Justice Alum Elected as Guadalupe County Sheriff

Recent Texas A&M-Commerce alum Joshua Ray is sheriff-elect of Guadalupe County in Texas. Ray emerged victorious in the county's Republican primary and is unopposed in the November election. A United States Marine Corps veteran and retired Texas Ranger, he served as chief deputy for the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office prior to the March primary.

Ray graduated from A&M-Commerce in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with an emphasis on law enforcement leadership. He is a proud advocate for the university's competency-based criminal justice program.

“No program in the nation compares to the competency-based criminal justice program at A&M-Commerce in terms of cost, accessibility, functionality and recognition of experienced student practitioners in the field,” Ray said.
