A&M-Commerce Education Students Compete Successfully at National Conference

Three A&M-Commerce students recently competed with future teachers from across the nation at the Educators Rising 2024 National Conference in Washington, DC. Susan Macias, Jasmin Gonzalez Salinas and Haley Hill—who represented Texas Educators Affiliate, the university's chapter of the Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE)—earned high marks.

Macias won first place at the collegiate level of the Children's Literature event for her children's book, “The Imposter Monster,” which she authored and illustrated.

Hill won second place at the collegiate level of the Educators Rising Moment presentation, where she gave a short speech about her motivation to become a teacher.

Gonzalez Salinas won a blue ribbon at the collegiate level of the Interactive Bulletin Board contest for her interactive lesson on colors and color word recognition for kindergarteners.

“We are really proud of these students who worked hard at the regional and state competitions for the chance to compete successfully at the national level,” said Dr. Carol Revelle, assistant professor for the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at A&M-Commerce.
