A&M-Commerce Faculty Receives $30,000 Grant for Urban Agriculture Educational Development
Dr. Robert “Bob” Williams, Professor of Agriculture, Food & Family at Texas A&M University-Commerce, is the recent recipient of a $30,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture to assist in the development of education in the field of urban agriculture. A three-person research team of Williams, Dr. Doug LaVergne, associate professor and associate dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and a graduate research assistant will solicit input from stakeholders regarding the needs and concerns faced by today’s agricultural educators in urban settings. Williams says that once these needs and concerns are identified, they hope to identify potential partners for a large, comprehensive grant proposal that will address the issues and concerns and possibly eliminate or reduce them. The research project is slated to run until May 2023.
