University Hosts the Texas Atomic Iron Commission: Exhibition and Iron Pour
The Department of Art is proud to present the Texas Atomic Iron Commission Juried Membership Exhibition and Iron Pour through Feb. 12 with the iron pour taking place on Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. between the Wathena Temple Fine Arts and the AG/IT buildings.
Founded in 2007, the Texas Atomic Iron Commission is an organization that serves to unite universities, industry, students and arts to network, share exhibitions, pour cast iron sculptures and exchange ideas.
“Participation of our university with the Texas Atomic Iron Commission provides the Department of Art an opportunity to network with other universities and expose not only art students, but also our university family and the area community at large to an underutilized art making process,” said University Exhibitions Coordinator Chris Blackhurst. “The Department of Art is delighted to host this public art event on behalf of our university.”
A reception honoring the artists will be held at 5 p.m. after the iron pour. The events are free and open to the public. The University Gallery is located in the Art Building and will remain open Mon. to Fri. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
