A&M-Commerce Nationally Ranked by U.S. News & World Report
U.S. News & World Report has ranked several programs at Texas A&M University-Commerce among the top in the nation for 2021.
Every year, U.S. News compares academic programs at A&M-Commerce with other programs across the United States. The highly anticipated 2021 results were published on January 26.
Several A&M-Commerce programs boast standout rankings. Among its online offerings, the university ranked 42 out of 357 schools in the nation for “Best Online Bachelor's Programs.” According to U.S. News, highly ranked programs in this category possess quality distance learning instruction, strong instructor credentials and instructor access, high graduation rates, and robust career and financial support.
The A&M-Commerce College of Business (CoB) was well represented in the rankings. Its online MBA program placed 100 out of 324 schools in the nation for “Best Online MBA Programs.” The CoB's business programs also ranked 27 out of 145 schools for “Best Online Bachelor's in Business Programs” and 53 out of 184 schools for “Best Online Master's in Business Programs (Excluding MBA).”
According to Dr. Alex Williams, head of the CoB's Department of Management and Economics at A&M-Commerce, “The new rankings recognize the innovative methods our world-class faculty are implementing to ensure student engagement and success.”
The College of Education and Human Services (CoEHS) received recognition for their stellar online graduate education programs, ranking 193 for “Best Online Master's in Education Programs” out of 317 national schools.
Dr. Kimberly McLeod, dean of the CoEHS, said this designation is the result of dedicated work from her faculty and staff.
“Our work has been intentional and deliberate,” McLeod said. “We continue to strive to be a leader in teacher education and stay on the cutting edge of innovation and research.”
A&M-Commerce also placed 24 out of 79 schools for “Best Online Master's in Criminal Justice Programs.”
A&M-Commerce President Mark Rudin expressed pride in the university's national rankings for online programs.
“We hold a firm leadership position among the nation's online programs, and we have plans in place to maintain and even increase that lead,” Rudin said.
Beyond its online offerings, the university also ranked 110 out of 220 national schools for “Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs.” This ranking was based on peer assessment surveys and focused only on ABET-accredited programs.
In addition, A&M-Commerce placed 106 out of 388 schools in the nation for “Top Performers on Social Mobility – National Universities.” Statistically, economically disadvantaged students are less likely to graduate, so this category measures an institution's ability to enroll and graduate large proportions of students whose adjusted gross family incomes are less than $50,000.
Rudin emphasized the importance of the university's remarkable social mobility ranking.
“This ranking highlights A&M-Commerce as an institution that provides students, who may come from lower socio-economic situations, an opportunity to transform their lives,” Rudin said. “That is a high priority for us, and we will continue to develop programs that increase our ability to serve as an effective social mobility agent for our students,” he said.
