A&M-Commerce Participates in the Dallas Art Dealers Association Fall Gallery Walk

The Dallas Art Dealers Association (DADA) has accepted Texas A&M University-Commerce to be a member. Twice a year, member galleries are invited to be open for extended hours. This year, the Fall Gallery Walk took place on Saturday Sept. 26 from 12-8 p.m. at the Texas A&M University-Commerce VisCom Gallery located in A&M-Commerce's Universities Center at Dallas location in downtown.

“One of our goals with our galleries is to provide fine arts experiences that connect the university with the Dallas area community at large. Acceptance into DADA increases the exposure of the university to a large population of art lovers and collectors throughout the north Texas region,” said University Exhibitions Coordinator Chris Blackhurst. “Our galleries exhibit diverse works of art from local to international professional artists providing relevant creative discovery for our students and the public at large.”

The association sets the standards for ethical practices in the business of art and aims to increase public awareness of its members.  Membership is extended by the board of directors of DADA to dealers or non-profit spaces with honest and professional reputations in the field.

“DADA's dedication to promoting high standards of ethical practice supports the professionalism with which we present exhibits in our galleries,” said Blackhurst. “The Art Walk provides students with an awareness of galleries outside the university setting that share our same dedication to artistic excellence. It is an honor for our university to be accepted as a member of an organization that shares our vision to the promotion of art.”

DADA hosts gallery art walks in the fall and the spring. The Fall Gallery Walk included the opening of more than 30 galleries around Dallas and North Texas.
