A&M-Commerce Professor Featured on WFAA News Segment
A&M-Commerce associate professor, Dr. LaVelle Hendricks, recently participated in a news segment featured on WFAA.com to address the dire need for quality internet access for students in minority communities. The segment stressed that reliable access to the internet has become an essential utility, similar to water and electricity.
When asked whether minority communities have, historically, had less access to the internet, Hendricks replied, “There's no question about it. They can't study well.” He continued, “They can't communicate with their instructors. They can't communicate with one another. They don't have materials they can readily access via the internet.”
