A&M-Commerce Programs Earn National Rankings from U.S. News & World Report

U.S. News & World Report released its 2022 Best Colleges Rankings in January, and Texas A&M University-Commerce was recognized for several outstanding programs.

Every year, U.S. News assesses hundreds of academic programs across the United States and compiles a list of the best. The list is intended to help prospective students and their families compare college and university options.

A&M-Commerce ranked nationally in several online categories:

  • 26 of 85 schools for “Best Online Graduate Criminal Justice Programs”
  • 44 of 384 schools “Best Online Bachelor's Programs”
  • 59 of 206 schools for “Best Online Graduate Business Programs (Excluding MBA)”
  • 105 of 358 schools for “Best Online MBA Programs”
  • 51 of 228 schools for “Best Online Bachelor's in Business Program”
  • 119 of 337 schools for “Best Online Master's in Education Program”

Additionally, the university's College of Science and Engineering claimed the 75th spot as “Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs (peer-ranked)” from among 239 schools. The College of Education and Human Services ranked 183 of 694 schools for “Best Undergraduate Nursing Programs” and 208 of 438 schools for “Best Education Schools.”

Dr. Mark Rudin, president of A&M-Commerce, emphasized the significance of the U.S. News rankings.

“These are comparative numbers for the best universities in the nation,” Rudin said. “Not only have we achieved and maintained our national university status, but we have also made great progress in advancing various areas of the university.”

Rudin is also pleased with the university's rising social mobility rankings, a category that measures an institution's ability to enroll and graduate large proportions of students who have economic disadvantages. A&M-Commerce ranked 100 out of 391 schools for “Top Performers on Social Mobility National Universities,” an increase from the 165th and 106th spots in 2020 and 2021, respectively.

“We always pride ourselves as an institution where our students come to transform their lives,” Rudin said. “In some cases, our students even break the cycle of generational poverty and find a path to financial stability and security. We take great pride in that, and it's reflected in these national numbers,” Rudin said.

Executive Director Dan Su, Ph.D., from the Department of Institutional Effectiveness and Research at A&M-Commerce, congratulated the dedicated faculty and staff who achieved these national rankings.

“In the last five years, many of our institutional programs have fearlessly thrown themselves into the mix to compete with our National University peers in both academic and service areas, and A&M-Commerce has received excellent results,” Su said. “Congratulations to the colleges and programs that have achieved such outstanding recognition.”
