A&M-Commerce Students to Compete at TCU Competition
The Texas A&M University-Commerce department of Marketing & Management will send a student team to Texas Christian University to compete at the annual Values and Ventures Business Plan Competition on April 11 and 12.
“We are honored to have been selected to participate in the TCU Values and Ventures Business Plan Competition,” said doctoral candidate and GA of Research Kevin Wortley. “With participants as diverse as Erasmus University from The Netherlands, Monterrey Tech from Mexico, Syracuse, and Villanova, plus nearby neighbors University of Texas, Baylor, North Texas, and TCU, this will be a great networking opportunity for the students and our school.”
The competition hosts around 35 teams from around the country and the world. Nine cash awards worth $68,500 will be presented to the winners. The plan to be presented by the A&M-Commerce team is for “Audio Knowledge”, an audio textbook company.
“I am really excited to be able to take part in this experience,” said A&M-Commerce team member Justin Mitchell. “No matter how far we make it, all three of us, as well as the university, have something to gain from this competition.”
This is the first time A&M-Commerce will attend, and the A&M-Commerce student team is the first one from the A&M System to compete. They presented a trial run of their plan at SBECON 2014 on campus on Feb. 19. The department of Marketing & Management hopes that A&M-Commerce will be able to become an annual participant and send more student teams to compete in the future.
