Becker Returns to Host Informative Session on Accounting Careers and the CPA License
The Texas A&M University-Commerce College of Business once again welcomed Becker, a renowned global leader in professional education, for an enlightening session on February 8, 2024.
Led by Kim Holland, Senior Account Manager at Becker, the event centered on accounting careers and the CPA license, while also showcasing Becker’s extensive offerings to students, including CPA Exam Reviews, CMA Exam Reviews and Continuing Professional Education courses.
With a turnout of 26 students and four faculty members, Holland delivered invaluable insights into major developments within the accounting field. She also shed light on the array of career paths available to students, spanning not only accounting but also finance and business. Additionally, she generously shared her expertise in guiding students along the pathway to becoming Certified Public Accountants.
The ongoing collaboration with the College of Business to host Becker is a testament to the college's commitment to inspiring transformational learning while creating opportunities for students to forge impactful connections. Such events aim to continuously transform students' lives by fostering personal growth and empowerment among students, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and resources to pursue successful careers in accounting, finance, and related fields.
“It is vital for students to make educated decisions on their major and to understand navigating the start of their career,” Holland said. “I was happy to visit campus and discuss the opportunity in accounting as well as the importance of certification for career development. Nearly 30 students attended, which is a great sign for accounting because we need more accountants.”
Cheryl Scott, Senior Lecturer in Accounting at the College of Business, expressed the significance of the event, stating, “This presentation is a valuable session that opens students’ eyes to the vast number of opportunities an accounting degree opens for them and gives them timely information regarding when to start planning for achieving a license or certification after graduating which will make them sought-after employees in northeast Texas and beyond.”
