Building on Concrete: How A&M-Commerce Laid the Foundation for Brian Rojas’s Success

Brian Rojas, a Business Administration student at Texas A&M University-Commerce, is setting a powerful example of how determination and the right support system can lead to remarkable success.

After facing challenges in accessing the guidance he needed at a previous institution, Rojas made the pivotal decision to transfer to A&M-Commerce in December 2023—a decision that would change his life and career trajectory.

“I was at a point where I felt stuck, unable to get the advising support I needed at my previous institution,” Rojas recalls. “But from the moment I reached out to A&M-Commerce, I felt valued and supported. The entire process was seamless, thanks to my advisor, Tonya Yeager, who guided me every step of the way with a smile and a genuine interest in my success.”

Rojas' journey at A&M-Commerce has been nothing short of transformative. Enrolling in the College of Business in the Spring 2024 semester, he quickly found a mentor in Professor Yazan Kakish, whose marketing class provided the foundation for Brian's business, Capy Concrete LLC.

“Professor Kakish's class was a game-changer for me,” Rojas said. “The practical knowledge I gained not only helped me understand the business world better but also gave me the tools to bring Capy Concrete LLC to life.”

Founded in March 2024 and based in Greenville, Texas, Capy Concrete LLC offers a wide range of residential and commercial concrete services across Northeast Texas. Rojas credits his success to the personalized attention and support he received at the College of Business.

“The support I've received, both academically and personally, has been incredible,” Rojas said. “I've grown so much as a professional and as a person. The College of Business and A&M-Commerce gave me the confidence and skills to turn my dreams into reality.”

Kakish also expressed his pride in Rojas’ achievements.

“Brian exemplifies what we strive to nurture in our students—a blend of entrepreneurial spirit, resilience, and a commitment to excellence,” Kakish said. “His success is a testament to the power of tailored education and the impact a dedicated faculty and staff can have on student outcomes.”

Yeager, Rojas' advisor, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Brian's story is one of determination and seizing the opportunities available. At A&M-Commerce, we aim to ensure that every student feels supported and has access to the resources they need to succeed. It's stories like Brian's that remind us why we do what we do.”
