College of Business Student Shares Cybersecurity Insights at ISACA North Texas Education Meeting

East Texas A&M University's College of Business continues to deliver on its mission to transform lives, as demonstrated by student Princess Odio's recent invitation to speak at the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) North Texas Education Month Meeting held on March 28, 2025, at CoreLogic in Irving, Texas.

Odio, a standout student in Business Analytics, was selected as a featured speaker at the prestigious event, which welcomed more than 100 cybersecurity professionals, IT auditors, educators and students. The meeting was designed to foster academic-industry dialogue on emerging issues in technology, governance, and digital trust.

Her presentation, “Building Digital Trust: The Future of Cybersecurity, Governance, and Compliance,” sparked engaging conversations about the evolving role of technology in risk and governance. She shared the stage with esteemed academic leaders, including Dr. Peter Kipp of the University of North Texas and Dr. Joseph Mauriello of the University of Texas at Dallas.

“It was an honor to speak at a platform like ISACA North Texas, where emerging topics in cybersecurity and digital governance are not only discussed but embraced,” Odio said. “This opportunity reminded me of the power of collaboration, community, and staying true to purpose.”

She credited her success to the support she received from the College of Business, stating, “The College of Business at ETAMU has been instrumental in shaping my professional journey. From access to research opportunities to the unwavering support of faculty and peers, I've grown tremendously in confidence and capability.” She added, “It's because of this foundation that I was able to step into this opportunity and share insights with fellow professionals in the field. I had insights from Dr. Zaki Malik who helped shape my presentation to make it a more relevant one.”

The College of Business at ETAMU has maintained a longstanding partnership with ISACA North Texas, with students consistently earning recognition through competitions, hackathons and scholarship programs. Princess’ participation as a speaker underscores the caliber of students the College cultivates—students who not only excel in the classroom but are prepared to lead conversations in their industries.

This achievement is one of many that highlight how ETAMU empowers students through hands-on experiences, mentorship, and real-world exposure, aligning with its promise to provide a transformative education.
