College of Business Students Claim High Honors at ISACA Competition
The 7th Annual Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) North Texas Student Case Competition concluded on April 23, 2024, with outstanding success for both Texas A&M University-Commerce College of Business teams as they claimed high finishes.
Hosted virtually, the competition attracted multiple teams from universities across the North Texas area. The event provided students specializing in cybersecurity, audit and related fields with a platform to tackle a real-world business challenge. This year’s task focused on designing an AI-integrated solution for a Fortune 500 leader in semiconductor equipment manufacturing.
The two teams, both comprised of members from the A&M-Commerce Marketing and Business Analytics Student Organization, distinguished themselves with innovative strategies and exceptional problem-solving skills. The two participating teams came in second and third place this year, securing a $7,500 scholarship award and a $5,000 scholarship award, respectively. K. M. Wahiduzzaman Fahad led his team, which included Ghosh Dastidar, Dharan Kumar Pala, Madhumitha Vijayakumar and Joseph Navarre, to the second-place finish. Aathira Nair led her team to claim third place along with teammates Ginikachi Oyakhare, Stephanny Rijalba, and Thuan Nguyen.
Students from the College of Business consistently excel at the annual ISACA North Texas Student Case Competition. In the previous year, two teams from the college showcased their expertise and determination, securing first and third place, respectively. This remarkable achievement not only demonstrates the caliber of education and training provided by the College of Business programs but also underscores the talent and dedication of the university's students.
By participating and triumphing in such competitions against other esteemed institutions in the area, the students validate the strength and effectiveness of the programs offered at A&M-Commerce. These competitions serve as invaluable opportunities for our students to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world business challenges, preparing them for successful careers in fields such as cybersecurity. Additionally, they offer a platform for students to network with industry professionals, further enhancing their learning experiences and future prospects in their chosen field.
