Counseling Center Brings Back DeStress Fest
The Counseling Center at Texas A&M University-Commerce will host DeStress Fest on May 4 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
DeStress Fest will be scavenger hunt based, with four stations being located across the campus. At each station, participants will learn different stress management tips, collecting a card along the way to show proof of their visit. The four stations will each have a different theme, including Play Time (being spontaneous or creative), Focus Time (being goal oriented), Connecting Time (being relational), and Time In (being reflective). Each theme is adapted from the Healthy Mind Platter by David Rock and Dan Siegel. After participants collect all four cards, they can receive a free t-shirt.
In addition to the scavenger hunt, miniature horses will be present for participants to engage with. The miniature horses have been a favorite of past participants during last spring's and last fall's DeStress Fest.
“The main goal of this event is twofold,” said Agnes Gonzalez, outreach coordinator. “First of all, we would like to provide a stress relieving experience for students in the midst of preparing for finals. But beyond that, we also would like to share some essential mental well-being tips that students can implement long term.”
