Distinguished Alum Named Head of Philippine Government Commission
A Lion alum was recently named the head of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) by Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Dante “Klink” Ang II, a 1990 graduate of East Texas State University (now East Texas A&M University) with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, will lead the commission tasked to promote and uphold the interests, rights and welfare of overseas Filipinos. As a Lion, Ang was the editor of The East Texan student newspaper and was named a Distinguished Alumni in 2017. He currently works as the chairman and chief executive officer of the Manila Times, the Philippines’ oldest English-language newspaper. Ang received the Most Outstanding Publication Chief Executive Officer of the Year award in 2024 and was also chairman of the National Book Development Board, an attached agency of The Philippines’ Department of Education.
