Dr. Adolfo Benavides Named Administrator of the Year
Dr. Adolfo Benavides, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, has been named Administrator of the Year from the Office of Hispanic Outreach and Student Programs. This award honors a professional staff member who dedicates his or her experience, knowledge, and professional work to serve and positively impact Texas A&M University-Commerce Latino students and their success. Winners must demonstrate commitment to student success and development, diversity, and service to the campus and community.
“Dr. Adolfo Benavides has only been on campus for a short amount of time but has definitely had a great impact on the Latino students,” said Adolfo Diaz, previous president of the Hispanic Student Association. “From donating money to the HSA Present's Bruce Bowen “Success is a Decision” to volunteering in the Dia De Los Muertos Celebration, he is very excited to be a part of this campus and spending time with the students.”
All Latino graduating students are asked to complete a survey and nominate faculty and staff members for various awards. After nominations have been received, a committee from the Hispanic Outreach office reviews and finalizes the selection. The Office of Hispanic Outreach Awards is an annual initiative offered through the Graduating Latino Student Recognition program to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduating class and acknowledge those individuals who helped in their success at reaching that milestone.
