Dr. Christian Hempelmann
Christian F. “Kiki” Hempelmann joined A&M-Commerce this fall to bring his expertise in industry application of natural language processing technology to A&M-Commerce students. He is working on developing the Computational Science degree with a strong foundation in computational linguistics.
Dr. Hempelmann received his Ph.D. in Linguistics from Purdue University in 2003. His research focuses on computational semantics and natural language processing, semantic and general humor theory, information security and assurance, and general linguistics. He recently worked as Director of Research and Development and as Chief Scientific Officer at Internet and enterprise search companies. In the past, he served as assistant professor at Georgia Southern University. This semester he will be teaching courses on the Structure of
English and Semantics.
