Earth-Kind® Team Named as Finalist for Texas Environmental Excellence Award
Derald Harp's Earth-Kind® team was named a 2017 Finalist for the Texas Environmental Excellence Award, the highest environmental honor given by the State of Texas. Harp, Professor of Horticulture in the School of Agriculture, is a member of the Texas A&M Extension National Earth-Kind Environmental Initiative Team.
“This recognition also makes us prouder of the fact that we've recently submitted a grant proposal that would make A&M–Commerce the primary university for Earth-Kind® research,” said Harp.
The team is composed of Texas A&M Extension educators, research scientists, nursery/landscape industry leaders, governmental officials and plant society members. Earth-Kind® Landscaping is an environmental research and educational program of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
“The years of applied Earth-Kind® research…numerous Earth-Kind® publications in scientific journals, and Earth-Kind® presentations at regional and national scientific meetings have established an impressive reputation for Dr. Derald Harp, and Texas A&M University – Commerce, as…leaders in research-based environmental landscape management,” said Steve George, Professor, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Department of Horticultural Sciences.
