A&M-Commerce Alum Selected as Region 11 Principal of the Year

The Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) recently announced that Dr. Winston McCowan ('01, '08), an A&M-Commerce alum, has been selected as the Outstanding Principal of the Year for Region 11. The award recognizes outstanding school administrators from the 20 regional Education Service Centers in Texas.

McCowan, who has led Chisolm Trail High School since 2020, will represent Region 11 as TASSP selects a recipient for the 2024-2025 Texas Principal of the Year award.

“It is truly an honor, and a blessing to represent the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals and Region 11 as the high school principal of the year,” McCowan said. “Once again, this is a testament to the amazing people that I work with and for.”

A two-time graduate of A&M-Commerce, McCowan earned a bachelor's in psychology in 2001 and a master's in secondary and higher education in 2008.
