ETAMU Alum Named Lone Finalist for GPISD Superintendent Position

Dr. Gabriel Trujillo, current superintendent of the Nacogdoches Independent School District in Nacogdoches, Texas, was recently named the lone finalist for the position of superintendent of the Grand Prairie Independent School District (GPISD) in Grand Prairie, Texas. Trujillo, who previously served with GPISD from 2013 to 2020, boasts a storied career in education spanning more than 30 years. Coming from Panama, Trujillo emigrated to the United States at a young age, only speaking Spanish. He grew into a lifelong learner and steward of education who sought to further hone his leadership skills through prestigious programs, including the Executive Leadership Institutes at the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University, the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University and the Holdsworth Superintendent's Leadership Program. Trujillo holds a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from East Texas A&M University, graduating in 2018. He also holds degrees from Wayland Baptist University and Texas Tech University.
