ETAMU Celebrates Engineers Week

The Department of Engineering and Technology at East Texas A&M University celebrated Engineers Week on February 18 and 19. East Texas A&M students, faculty and staff attended the event. Engineers Week was created in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers to promote interest in engineering and technology careers.
This year's Engineers Week theme, “Design Your Future,” celebrated the limitless possibilities in engineering. Special events included:
- Guest speakers Carrie Bradley from Raytheon Technologies and Marshall Neipert from Big Battery LLC
- ETAMU faculty and staff speakers Dr. Andrea Graham, James Tague (“The Wide Open World of Engineering”), Paul McCright (“Your Future in Engineering”) and Tracy Stewart (Student Career Preparedness)
- A career fair, hosted by the university's College of Science and Engineering
- A speaking competition wherein teams of up to three students were given two hours to prepare a speech about a surprise engineering topic. Competition winners were:
- Kaylee Wilhite, undergraduate industrial engineering major
- Cody Hunter, undergraduate electrical engineering major
