Between 1975 and 1995, Carr was a working musician on the Las Vegas Strip. He and guitarist Larry Jenks backed famous performers like Wayne Newton and Frank Sinatra.
Carr later returned to school at A&M-Commerce where he earned master's degrees in theatre and English. He has also served as chief sound technician and music director for several productions at A&M-Commerce's University Playhouse.
