Finance Program Ranks High in the All-America Student Analyst Competition

The Texas A&M University-Commerce Finance Program recently ranked 29^th out of 81 universities participating in the All-America Student Analyst Competition, edging out such prestigious schools as New York University, Tulane, and Rice.  Kripanjali Dhungana and Brandyn Hinnrichs — two of the program's undergraduate students, along with faculty advisor Dr. Kurtay Ogunc — attended, and the students placed in the top 100 rising above over 95% of students competing. The All-America Student Analyst Competition put over 2,100 undergraduate and graduate students from across the U.S. in competition against one another in the hunt for investment returns using a professional-style trading engine.

“I congratulate Jolie and Brandyn in their success at the All-America Student Analyst Competition,” said Dr. Asli Ogunc, department head of economics and finance. “We will continue producing top-performing students in the competition going forward and aim at finishing at the top 10 next year.”

The All-America Student Analyst Competition measures the daily performance of participants' portfolios by calculating six investment factors. The competition is supported by ALPHASEAL, a software platform developed by Mark My Media. Top performers in this competition have the opportunity for internship recruitment, mention in Institutional Investor Magazine, and attention from media outlets such as CNBC, BusinessWeek, and Yahoo! Finance.
