Freshman Success Students Assist with QEP

Over 500 Freshman Success students enrolled in 15 class sections recently participated in an intensive two-part project designed to provide baseline data for the ongoing development of the Texas A&M University-Commerce Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).  On the first day, the students were asked to complete an assessment of their global competency and review their individual results.  The students also completed a survey reflecting their perspectives about the assessment.  On the second day of the project, the students began construction of electronic portfolios through the ManeSync system, and were asked to offer their individual perspectives of the experience.

The incoming freshman students are the first to test the foundational aspects of the proposed QEP program – The Global Scholars, as a part of the university commitment to Preparing Students for an Interconnected World.   The data gathered during this project will inform the further development of the QEP.

Additionally, Graduate Research Assistant, Natalia Assis, will present the results of the Global Competency Aptitude Assessment (GCAA) and the student perspectives as a three-semester long project in conjunction with Dr. Shonda Gibson and Dr. Mildred Golden Pryor at the upcoming Pathways Research Conference in Kingsville, Texas.  Ashley Kimble, Graduate Research Assistant, will present the results of the electronic portfolio project at Pathways.  Both projects will be made available at the QEP website following the conference presentations.
