Graduate Students Win Big At Research Symposium

Four graduate students from Texas A&M University-Commerce have won awards at this year's Federation of North Texas Area Universities' Graduate Student Research Symposium, all in their respective categories: Education, Humanities, Social Sciences and Business; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

Jennifer Valdez and Artak Meloyan won second and a tie for third, respectively, in the Education, Humanities, Social Sciences and Business category, while Sirisha Chakkapalli and Nobel Chowdhury tied for third place in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

The symposium, which was held on March 31, took place in Denton at Texas Woman's University, in the university's Hubbard Hall building. Each university had an allowance of 20 posters to be presented.

The winning presenters gained various awards. First place took home $500, second place $250, and third place $100. While none of our students managed to win the coveted grand prize, the fact that our students took up half of the award spots is an astounding achievement.
