Griese named SLC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Following a school-record performance, East Texas A&M University women’s track and field student-athlete Romi Griese has earned Southland Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors.
Griese (Salzkotten, Germany) threw a mark of 165-0 (50.31m) in the women’s discus event at the Kirk Baptiste Invitational in Houston, which was third in the meet. Her mark also set a school record and leads the Southland Conference, while also being seventh in the South Central Region, and 41st in the country.
She also threw a new personal-best of 120-5 (36.71m) for fourth in the javelin, which ranks 11th in the conference.
This is the first career weekly honor for Griese and first for the Lions this outdoor season. During the indoor season, East Texas A&M had five weekly honorees.
