In Focus: From the Forefront of Finance to Behind the Lens – Meet Alumnus Sir Charles Miles-Frost
Sir Charles Miles-Frost, an alumnus of Texas A&M University-Commerce, has built an impressive career at the intersection of finance and community leadership while pursuing his passion for photography.
As the Director of Accounting at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Dallas, Sir Charles combines his expertise in finance with his commitment to making a difference in his community, all while maintaining a successful photography business, Get SIRtified Photography and Editing.
His academic journey at the College of Business began after an impactful visit to campus during his high school years.
“I was introduced to A&M-Commerce through an admissions counselor, and after touring the university, I knew this was where I wanted to be,” Sir Charles recalls.
His decision to pursue a degree in finance stemmed from his aptitude for math and a desire to work in the business field. He earned his undergraduate degree in Finance in May 2021 and went on to complete his M.B.A. in December 2022.
Reflecting on his time at the university, Sir Charles credits the College of Business for providing the foundation that set him up for success.
“The support I received from my professors, advisors, and administration helped me grow both personally and professionally,” he explains. “The tools I gained from the program, whether through internships or guidance on career choices, have been instrumental in my development.”
He specifically recalls the personal finance class taught by Professor Jared Pickens as one of the most impactful experiences during his academic career, helping him make sound financial decisions both personally and professionally.
In his current role, Sir Charles brings his financial expertise to enhance the organization's operations. Though relatively new to the position, he is already focused on streamlining processes and improving financial management to better serve the community. His previous experience at other institutions, where he implemented innovative financial solutions, has prepared him for this leadership role.
Beyond his career in finance, Sir Charles has also built a successful photography business. Get SIRtified Photography and Editing, which he established in 2020, has quickly grown, completing over 500 photoshoots ranging from graduations and weddings to special events and maternity sessions.
“Photography has always been a passion of mine,” he shares. “During the pandemic, I finally had the opportunity to take it seriously, and I haven't looked back since.”
His work has gained significant recognition, and he continues to grow his portfolio while balancing his responsibilities in finance.
For current and prospective students at A&M-Commerce, Sir Charles offers valuable advice.
“It's okay not to have everything figured out when you first start,” Sir Charles said. “College is about discovering what you're passionate about and where you want to leave your mark.”
He also emphasizes the importance of perseverance, sharing his own experience of overcoming academic challenges. “I failed a class twice before passing it, but I didn't let that stop me. As long as you keep pushing forward, you can achieve your goals.”
As a first-generation graduate student, Sir Charles reflects on his journey with pride and gratitude.
“Looking back, I never imagined I would be where I am today,” Sir Charles said. “My time at A&M-Commerce gave me the foundation to pursue my passions and make a meaningful impact in my career and community.”
Today, he continues to stay connected to the university, inspiring future generations of students with his story.
Sir Charles' journey is a testament to the opportunities available at A&M-Commerce and the lasting impact the university has on its alumni. Whether leading in the world of finance or capturing life's special moments through his photography, Sir Charles exemplifies the spirit of determination, creativity, and community that A&M-Commerce fosters in its graduates.
