In Memory: Dr. Barry B. Thompson

Distinguished Alumnus Dr. Barry B. Thompson, died March 1, 2014. Dr. Thompson received a master's degree from this institution and served from 1975-1982 as department head and later as vice president for academic affairs. He left to assume the presidency at Tarleton State University, a position he held for eight years. He then went on to serve as president at West Texas A&M University for three years, and was appointed chancellor of The Texas A&M University System in 1994, a position he held for five years. Following his retirement in 1999, he was named Chancellor Emeritus of the A&M System. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 9, 2014, at 2:00 in Stephenville at the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center on the Tarleton State University campus, followed by a reception at the Barry B. Thompson Student Center. http://bit.ly/NXo9W5
