Interdisciplinary Team of Faculty Publish Title on Hispanic Leadership
A&M-Commerce faculty representing the departments of Counseling, Higher Education and Learning Technologies, and Educational Leadership recently joined forces to publish “Hispanic Leadership in Higher Education.”
Edited by Drs. LaVelle Hendricks, Dimitra Smith, Elsa Villarreal, Jose Parra and Melissa Arrambide, the book explores the unique challenges faced by Hispanic professionals aspiring to leadership roles in higher education.
The book presents real stories and research on the experiences of Hispanic faculty and administrators, focusing on barriers and opportunities for advancement. It also examines policies and practices at Hispanic-serving and predominantly White institutions, offering insight into how colleges and universities can support Hispanic leaders.
Aimed at students, faculty and administrators, Hispanic Leadership in Higher Education covers student and faculty belonging, leadership development, recruitment and representation. The text is valuable for fostering a welcoming academic learning environment for various populations.
