KETR Completes Upgrades, Now Available in HD with New Second Channel
Following an extensive upgrade project, 88.9 KETR-FM has added two digital high-definition broadcast channels for listeners in Northeast Texas.
Billed by General Manager Jerrod Knight as “the most significant upgrade to KETR's broadcast apparatus since the station was powered up to 100,000 watts,” the project is the culmination of a years long effort.
Installation was completed in June 2023 on a new Nautel GV30 FM+HD transmitter. The station also installed a new antenna and transmission line.
In addition to the 100,000 watt analog broadcast, two new digital HD channels began broadcasting:
- HD1: A high-definition simulcast of KETR's regular programming.
- HD2: A new service named “The Lion, 88.9-HD2,” airing a vast 24/7 music playlist powered by XPoNential Radio.
These two channels are available to those with HD radio tuners, with plans to add online streaming capabilities for both HD channels.
Broadcast live from Binnion Hall on the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce, KETR has been on air since 1975 and brings quality news, music, entertainment and A&M-Commerce athletics, both to listeners over the radio and on the web.
