Ketr to Air Special Programming on July 4
COMMERCE, Texas – Public Radio 88.9 KETR will feature patriotic music, interviews with veterans, and thoughts on what the holiday means to listeners on Friday, July 4th.
The special programming will air from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will include music from the Commerce fireworks show in the evening.
The interviews — two to three minutes in length — are clips from the digital collection of World War II veterans at Gee Library on the Texas A&M University-Commerce campus.
Library staffers began interviewing veterans in North and Northeast Texas for the digital collection in March 2007.
About 170 interviews of area World War II, Korean War and Vietnam veterans have been completed and 25 can be accessed by computer in the Gee library digital collection, said Dr. James Conrad, head of Special Collections and university archivist.
The digital collection also features memorabilia of veterans, such as photographs of letters, uniforms, and posters.
