LeBlanc Named Wilson/NFCA and LSC Pitcher of the Week
COMMERCE – Texas A&M University-Commerce softball pitcher Alyssa LeBlanc has been selected as the Wilson/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Pitcher of the Week as well as the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
LeBlanc (Katy) went 2-0 in two five-inning complete games for the Lions last week at the West Texas A&M Invitational. She tossed the program’s first perfect game on Friday against Fort Lewis, striking out eight of the 15 batters she faced. On Saturday against Northern State, she allowed just one earned run and fanned eight batters. She posted an ERA of 0.70 on the weekend.
Offensively, she added eight RBIs, one home run, and drove in the game-winning run in two of the five wins for the Lions, who are ranked No. 25 in the country by the NFCA with a record of 12-4.
LeBlanc has been named the LSC Pitcher of the Week for the third time in her career and first time this season. Earlier this season, Emily Otto was also named conference pitcher of the week. LeBlanc is also the first Lion player since Otto in 2019 to be named National Player of the Week.
The Lions return to the diamond on March 1 at home against Southeastern Oklahoma State for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
