Library Renovation Underway

Individuals who frequent the Velma K. Waters Library at East Texas A&M have likely noticed things are looking a little different. When entering the north or south entrance of the library, one will see walls draped in black plastic, with signage proclaiming “Do Not Enter” in certain spots and arrows pointing down dark hallways in other spots.
No, it's not an East Texas A&M haunted house attraction, erected eight months too early for Halloween. There is, instead, good reason for the construction barriers sectioning off portions of the first floor: the library is undergoing a facelift.
March 10 marked the beginning of a major renovation of the library's first floor, which is to include new flooring and ceiling, fresh paint, upgraded furniture and spaces with technology for large and small group study and presentations. Completion of construction is expected in mid to late July.
Though much of the first floor is and will continue to be inaccessible throughout the duration of the project, all library services and departments within the library will remain open and accessible. This includes Student Access and Success, Honors College, Family Restoration, Student Disability Services and Library Services, which can be found on the second floor. Starbucks will remain operational and the restrooms will stay open. For those looking for a place to study, extra rooms have been made available on the second floor.
For questions or concerns about library access during this project, please contact Library Operations Supervisor Dana Toles.
