Lion Alum has Painting Featured in Texas Rangers Hall of Fame

Texas A&M University-Commerce alum and artist Lee Herring has one of his paintings on display in the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum in Waco, Texas. The law enforcement agency is commemorating the 200th anniversary of its founding this year, and in celebration provided a virtual sample of some of the museum's exhibits, of which Herring's artwork was included in a recent online article. Herring's painting, “Delaying Action: The Battle of Plum Creek” from 1978 depicts the eponymous battle near Lockhart, Texas which pitted a volunteer force of many former and future rangers against hundreds of Comanche warriors in 1840. Herring has spent decades producing epic paintings of the American West, Texas history and traditional western scenes. He received his B.S. in Art in 1962 in Commerce and an M.S. in Art in 1967.
