Lion Football Releases Revised 2024 Schedule
COMMERCE – Texas A&M University-Commerce announced a revised football schedule for the 2024 season on Thursday, with the addition of Stephen F. Austin to the Southland Conference on July 1.
The SLC released a revamped football schedule for all nine teams. This year will be unique in that the Lions play seven conference schools but only six will be counted as a conference game. This year’s home contest against SFA will be counted as a non-conference game.
Despite only playing six games, A&M-Commerce is still eligible to win the conference title. In 2025, the conference schedule is slated to go back to an even number of games for all schools, with the addition of UTRGV.
The Lions’ non-conference schedule remains the same. The season begins in the state of California with an August 31 contest at San Diego State and a September 7 game at UC Davis.
The home opener is September 14 against Grambling and the following week A&M-Commerce hosts Sacramento State from the Big Sky Conference. Both games kickoff at 6 p.m. The game against Sac State is also Family Weekend and Hall of Fame weekend.
Southland play begins October 5 at Southeastern. A week later the Lions travel to Northwestern State. Homecoming is still slated for October 19 vs. Lamar in what will be a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
The Lions then play at Prairie View A&M on October 26 before returning to conference play for a November 2 match up at McNeese.
The revamped schedule has the Lions closing out the final three games of the season inside Ernest Hawkins Field at Memorial Stadium.
A&M-Commerce hosts SFA on November 9 at 3:30 p.m.
Conference play concludes with two 1 p.m. kickoffs, against Houston Christian on November 16 and Incarnate Word on November 23.
Season tickets are on sale for the six-game home schedule. Fans can purchase at LionAthletics.com/Tickets or by emailing [email protected] or by calling 903-468-8756.
