Lion Track & Field Releases 2023-24 Schedule
COMMERCE – Texas A&M University-Commerce track & field coach George Pincock has announced the 2023-24 schedule on Wednesday morning.
During the 2023-24 season, the Lions compete in six meets during the indoor season and seven meets during the outdoor season. The Lions look to repeat a magical season in which the men finished third at both the indoor and outdoor conference championships last season, while the women placed seventh and fifth, respectively, in the first season in NCAA Division I and the Southland Conference.
The season begins on January 12 at the Arkansas Invitational. A&M-Commerce then competes at the Colorado Invitational on February 2-3.
On the weekend of February 9-10, the Lions will split the squad with one contingent returning to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the Tyson Invitational, while the rest will head to Houston for the Howie Ryan Invitational.
The final regular season competition of the indoor season comes on February 16 at the Arkansas Qualifier.
The 2024 Southland Conference Indoor Championships are once again held in Birmingham, Alabama, at the Crossplex on February 25-26.
After nearly a month off, the Lions begin the outdoor season on March 22-23 at the Clyde Hart Classic in Waco. The next week, the Lions compete in the historic Texas Relays in Austin on March 27-30 and at the Bobcat Invitational on March 28-30 in San Marcos.
The outdoor season continues on April 12-13 at the John Jacob Invitational in Norman, Oklahoma, and the Michael Johnson Invitational on April 19-20, once again in Waco. The final regular season meet of the outdoor season is on April 25 in Abilene at the Oliver Jackson Twilight.
UIW serves as hosts of the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships this year, which take place in San Antonio on May 2-4 to close out the 2023-24 season.
In the second year of the four-year transition to becoming full members of NCAA Division I, the Lions will not be eligible for NCAA regional and national competition this year.
